Why Did We Move?

May 13, 2019

Around this time last year, we announced that we’d be moving from our location in Katy, TX to a brand new facility 15 minutes west near Sealy. We decided to make the move because, by the grace of God and lots of wonderful customers, we had outgrown our shop in Katy.

What a lot of people don’t know is that we actually moved from our first location at Highway 6 and Memorial Drive out to Katy with the intention of slowing down a little. At the time, we had a good customer base. What we didn’t know was that both our classic car and high-performance divisions would explode when we moved to Katy. So much for slowing down! After 8 years of building Bad Fast cars out of that shop, we realized that we needed more room to keep up with business.

So, when we decided that we needed to make the move, we knew that this new building was going to be our home for years to come. We started thinking about what the shop would need, what would make us more efficient, and what we could put in there to make it our dream shop.

We all got together and tossed around ideas. Unfortunately, our own test track didn’t make the cut but, after 40 years of working on cars, I finally have an air-conditioned shop! To some that may not seem like a big deal, but if you’ve ever worked in a metal building with little ventilation in the middle of a Texas summer then you know what a blessing air-conditioning can be!

Some other new things this building has is 15,000 square feet of additional space. Our last building was 12,000 square feet, but we were only able to work out of about half that. Now we have about 15,000 square feet of workspace dedicated to making our customers’ vehicles Bad Fast! In addition to the increased space and A/C, we have 3 additional lifts, a much more efficient layout, 2 fabrication areas, a larger dyno room complete with a viewing room, and another building on site that is dedicated to storing some long-term projects.

This shop has been a long time coming and after 27 years in business I couldn’t be more thankful. None of this would be possible without the grace of God, our customers, and our team. Here’s to many years to come and many more Bad Fast cars!
